Since its inception UBA- IIT Guwahati has been organizing number of programs/ infrastructure development initiatives to ensure inclusive development of the village (Shishugram, Noth Guwahati, KV IITG, North Guwahati, Rajaduar, Kamrup Rural, Dirgheswari ME School, North Guwahati and Amtola, Kamrup ) of the region. Programs viz., medical camp. Animal health camp, literacy camp, training to impart skill etc. are organized from time to time. The most significant outcome is imparting skill to kids living in Shishugram orphanage. Besides, IIT students are regularly interacting with kids in the nearby villages to provide better education to the kids. Such programs are found to be effective to improve the primary education scenario in the villages.
Shishugram renovation:-The Shishugram house renovated to make it comfortable in all weather. Approximately 30 girls are living in the home. All of them are below 10th Standards. They are trying to provide better education to all the members. Besides, skill development programs like tailoring, basic computer learning workshop/ programs arranged to impart them skill.
Skill development/Zero literacy:- In improve to improve the quality of primary education we are imparting tutorial classes for the kids from the villages situated near the institutions.
Plantation drive:- Plantation drive is organized by Prakriti Club in association with UBA-IITG in Amatola village, Guwahati. A total of 156 fruits and medicinal plants were planted in the village.
Health camp for villagers:- A team from IITG (doctors, nurses, faculties, staff, and students) and Indian Railway’s medical team visited these villages. 267 villagers participated in the program. Service provided includes: ENT, oral and dental hygiene, general medical for all age groups, gynaecology, childcare and diabetic.
