Vishnu Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Telangana) has adopted Moosapet, Chennapur, Rusthumpet, Ibrahimbad, and Avancha villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The institute’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan team conducted 4 Gram Sabhas in the adopted villages to discuss the problems faced by the villagers. During the survey, it was found that –
Medak district people have marginal landholding which is not used by most of the families due to lack of irrigation facilities.
The unused land was identified for alternate crop cultivation. An awareness camp on alternate crops was conducted with the support of Mr. Sitha Rama Rao (DRDO) Medak.,
According to the Demographic and Health Survey of 2014, malnutrition is a severe public health problem in Medak district, affecting 38% of children under 15 years of age and 40% of pregnant and lactating women.
- An awareness camp was conducted on World Iron Deficiency Day and distributed some nutritional products.
- Another awareness camp was conducted on World Disable Day where villagers were told about nutrition and its importance and what type of food can be taken during pregnancy. Prizes were also distributed for various initiatives.
- A training program on Spirulina cultivation was conducted with appropriate technological inputs for efficient utilization of existing resources such as Spirulina cultivation and Moringa cultivation through improved practices. Spirulina is a wonder food, especially for the undernourished people.
