Capacity Building, Strategy for Convergence and Implementation of Various Govt. Schemes, SEG for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
Coordinator Name:
Dr. R. Ramesh
National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad
Vision: Building Self-sustaining Villages through Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)
Mission: ‘Enable villages to resemble Model Villages in terms of technology use, economic progress, and societal norms through making the best use of government programmes, and local initiatives – facilitated by Higher Education Institutions in the vicinity’
Philosophy: Greater the application of science and technology in various spheres of life, better will be the quality of life in any given society. It is the ability of humans to use tools and technologies that have enabled human species to dominate the world to the extent, today, of designing machines that are intelligent. UBA is headed to be a great leveller and enabler for rural people to have access to science and technology. This in turn has the potential to make the rural people smarter by re-configuring the way they work - improving their productivity, reducing drudgery and diversifying livelihoods and enhancing incomes.
Outreach: The National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) is pleased to be associated with the UBA for this programme has multiplied the hands of NIRDPR to reach out to the last mile. The NIRDPR is constantly involved in capacity building of stakeholders in rural development. For the NIRDPR, the Regional Coordinating Institutes (RCIs) serve as strategic points for dissemination, and the Participating Institutions (PIs) provide us the facility of reaching the last mile, through cascading mode training and capacity building of rural development stakeholders spread across the country.
Outcome: The UBA is enabling the fund of knowledge, skills, technology and good practices available with Higher Education Institutions in India to find their way to rural areas. Besides providing the transformation enablement, UBA is providing the feedstock for making research relevant to rural areas.
