“Oru Kaipidi Arisi” (A Handful of Rice) – World Record Attempt on 18.03.26

A monumental World Record attempt titled “Oru Kaipidi Arisi” (A Handful of Rice) was successfully organized on March 18, 2026, at the Indra Ganesan Institutions campus in Tiruchirappalli. This initiative, which centered on social responsibility and humanity, was conducted in collaboration with the Indra Ganesan Lions Club, JCI Rock Town, Ideal Foundation, and Sriram Nursing Home. The event was presided over by Er. G. Rajasekaran, Secretary of Indra Ganesan Institutions. In his presidential address, he emphasized the necessity for students to act with social accountability, noting that such initiatives pave the way for societal progress. Dr. G. Balakrishnan, Director, offered felicitations and lauded the students for their remarkable enthusiasm and commitment. Dr. M. Anusiya, Registrar, provided a comprehensive overview of the event's coordination and its significant social impact. Several eminent personalities graced the occasion and highlighted the importance of youth contribution to social service: Dr. M. Selvaraj (Sriram Nursing Home) Jc. K. Mohanraj (Founder, Ideal Foundation), Jc. Dr. S. Muthukumar (President, JCI Rock Town), Jc. Dr. Arivalagan, Lion P. Saravanakumar The highlight of the day was the participation of approximately 3,000 students from the Indra Ganesan educational family, each contributing a handful of rice. Total Collection: Over 250 kg of rice was gathered. The collected rice is slated for donation to old age homes, orphanages, and underprivileged families. This selfless act was officially recorded in the “Genius International Book of Records.” Mr. K. N. Sakthivel, Senior Adjudicator (South Zone), formally announced the World Record achievement. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sridevi (Indra Ganesan College of Arts and Science). It concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. K. Chithradevi, Principal of the College of Allied Health Sciences. The tireless efforts of Dr. K. Chithradevi (Secretary, Indra Ganesan Lions Club) and Dr.Sridevi (Treasurer) in organizing this event were highly commended. The “Oru Kaipidi Arisi” World Record attempt stands as an exemplary model of social concern. Beyond the record, it successfully strengthened the values of humanity and the spirit of sharing among the student community.
