A Workshop for Enhancing Livelihoods, Promoting Self-reliance, and Building Skills among Rural Communities

A workshop aimed at enhancing livelihoods, promoting self-reliance, and building skills among rural communities was conducted on 14th July 2025 at Shoolini University, Bajhol, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, with the objective of empowering rural populations in the Western Himalayan region through sustainable agricultural practices, skill development, and income-generating opportunities. The programme focused on capacity-building and the dissemination of practical knowledge related to sustainable farming and allied activities, enabling participants to strengthen their livelihood options and make informed agricultural decisions. Through expert interactions and institutional support, rural participants were introduced to various income-enhancing practices and sustainable approaches to agriculture. As a result, the participants gained practical skills, increased awareness and adoption of income-generating activities, and developed greater confidence in managing their livelihoods. The workshop also strengthened linkages between farmers, experts, and institutions, facilitating effective knowledge exchange and contributing significantly to social empowerment, particularly among women and marginalized communities in the region.
