Awareness Lecture on Solid waste Management
A Solid Waste Management Awareness Program was organized by the UBA Cell in collaboration
with the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Dogra Degree College at the Government Middle
School in the adopted village of Meen Sarkar.
The initiative aimed to educate students and the local community about the importance of waste
management, proper disposal practices, and the environmental impact of poor waste handling.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about solid waste management
and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly practices for waste disposal. The event aimed to
highlight the importance of waste segregation, recycling, and reducing waste generation to
promote a cleaner and healthier environment in the village.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, praised the initiative aimed at educating
students on sustainable waste management and environmental responsibility. Mr. Ranbeer
Singh, Regional Director of IPCA, led the lecture, discussing the importance of waste reduction
and cleaner environmental practices. Ms. Palak Gupta, Faculty from Dogra Degree College shared
eco-friendly practices and waste segregation techniques, inspiring students to adopt green habits
and spread awareness in their communities. Before the event, the UBA Cell and NSS volunteers
were surveyed to understand the waste management practices in the village. Necessary
materials, including informational pamphlets, waste segregation bins, and posters, were
prepared to facilitate the program. An interactive session was designed to engage the students
and local community effectively.
