Basanta Utsav: A Symbol of Peace, Friendship and Communal Harmony

Basanta Uthsav is observed in Bengal to welcome thespring season.This year it was observed by the Dept. Of Social Work,Mahishadal Girls’ College on 22/03/24. On this occasion a procession or ‘Prabhat Fheri’ was organized by the students of the Department. The students were dressed in colorful attire and decorated themselves with yellow and white flowers. They greeted each other with colours (ABIR), danced with music and walked through the Market area of Mahishadal towards Mahishadal Cinema More and Rangibasan and Gajipur village for giving the message of peace and friendship and also to maintain communal harmony. On the way they also greeted the local people of the market with colours. A cultural program was also organized at the college campus which included some speech on Basanta Uthsav by our teachers, group songs, dance, and recitation by our students and so on.Sweets were distributed among the students. The news of the event was covered by some news channels and the news was published in Haldia news today and Bartaman newspaper.
