Cleanliness Drive at Mohagaon
In celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2024, K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education, Nashik, organized a cleanliness drive at Mohagaon. The drive was led by Prof. Swanand Dongare and involved the active participation of 100 students from various departments along with faculty members.
Objectives of the Drive:
To promote the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces.
To raise awareness about environmental sustainability and cleanliness.
To inspire community engagement in keeping their surroundings clean.
Activities Undertaken:
The cleanliness drive began early in the morning with a brief orientation by Prof. Swanand Dongare, where he emphasized the significance of maintaining cleanliness as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of sanitation and community service. The participants were divided into groups and assigned different areas of Mohagaon to clean.
Garbage Collection: Students and faculty members collected litter and waste scattered across the streets and public areas of Mohagaon. Separate waste bags were provided for biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials.
Cleaning Public Spaces: The team cleaned parks, roadsides, and common areas where waste accumulation was a concern.
Waste Segregation: Waste collected during the drive was segregated into recyclables and non-recyclables. Appropriate measures were taken to ensure safe disposal and recycling wherever possible.
Awareness Campaign: The drive included an awareness campaign where students interacted with local residents, distributing pamphlets and speaking about the importance of maintaining hygiene in the community. They encouraged people to avoid littering and to adopt sustainable waste management practices.
Impact:
The cleanliness drive left a noticeable improvement in the cleanliness of Mohagaon. Public areas such as streets, parks, and community spaces were significantly cleaner, and the participants’ efforts were appreciated by the local residents. The event also succeeded in spreading awareness among the villagers, motivating them to actively participate in future cleanliness initiatives.
