Distribution of Oru Kaipidi Arisi

After the successful World Record achievement of the “Oru Kaipidi Arisi” (A Handful of Rice) initiative, the Lions Club of Indra Ganesan and the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) unit of Indra Ganesan College of Engineering carried out a series of impactful distribution programs across Tiruchirappalli on 19.03.26 The rice collected through the collective contributions of 3,000 students was distributed to various welfare centers, transforming a symbolic gesture into tangible community support. The outreach team visited four key locations to ensure the collected nourishment reached those in need: • Kamala Balakrishnan Muthiyor Illam (Vinoba Nagar): Rice was distributed to the elderly residents, sharing moments of compassion and providing essential support for their daily needs. • Al-Hudha Orphanage: The initiative reached out to the children of the orphanage, spreading care and ensuring they receive proper nourishment through the generous contributions of the student community. • Loubra Blind Disabled Welfare Centre: The team extended their service to the differently-abled community, reinforcing the institution's commitment to inclusive social welfare. • Local Communities in Need: In addition to these centers, the outreach included identified underprivileged families to ensure the spirit of "sharing a handful" reached the grassroots level. This extensive service journey was conducted under the visionary guidance of Er.G.Rajasekaran, Secretary, Indra Ganesan Group of Institutions, Dr.G.Balakrishnan, Director, Indra Ganesan Group of Institutions. The distribution drive was initiated and spearheaded by Dr.M.Anusuya, Registrar, whose efforts ensured that the mission of the "Oru Kaipidi Arisi" project was fulfilled through direct action. The active participation of Lions Club members and UBA students made these visits both meaningful and impactful. By moving from a campus-based world record to a city-wide distribution drive, the Indra Ganesan Group of Institutions successfully instilled a deep sense of humanitarianism and social responsibility in its students, proving that a single handful of rice can indeed make a world of difference.
