DRUG AWARENESS EVENT
Drug Awareness Programme
A Drug Awareness Programme was organized by UBA in collaboration with
the Manikandam Police Station on 24/06/2026, Wednesday, at Seminar hall, with
the blessing of Secretary ,Er G.Rajasekaran ,Guidance of Director
Dr.G.Balakrishnan ,and with the support of Registrar Dr.M.Anusuya the
programme was organized by Indra Ganesan college of Arts & Science along with
Indra Ganesan College of Engineering and Shri Indra Ganesan Institute of Medical
Sciences and Siddha Medical College with the objective of educating students
about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free
lifestyle among youth. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from
students and faculty members.
As part of the awareness initiative, several competitions were conducted to
encourage students to express their understanding and creativity regarding drug
prevention. The events included Drawing Competition, Essay Writing Competition,
Poster Making Competition, and Slogan Writing Competition.
Nearly 700 Students actively participated in all the competitions and
presented thought-provoking ideas through their artwork and writings. The
drawing and poster-making competitions effectively conveyed messages about the
dangers of drug addiction and the importance of leading a healthy life. The essay
competition enabled students to critically discuss the causes, consequences, and
preventive measures related to substance abuse. The slogan competition generated
impactful messages advocating a drug-free society.
Officials from the Manikandam Police Station addressed the students and
highlighted the increasing menace of drug abuse among young people. They
emphasized the importance of awareness, self-discipline, and community support
in preventing drug addiction. The police officials also encouraged students to
become ambassadors of anti-drug campaigns and spread awareness among their
peers and communities, police official selected the best out comes and honored the
prize winners with gifts and encouraged them.
The programme successfully created awareness about the adverse effects of
drugs and inspired students to make responsible choices. The event concluded
with the distribution of prizes and encouraged them making the programme both
educational and motivating for all involved
