MUSHROOM TRAINING PROGRAM

EVENT REPORT One-Day Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Training Program Date: 6-03-2026 Venue: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sundernagar Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme, Government Polytechnic Sundernagar successfully organized a one-day training program on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation for the residents of its adopted villages. The training was conducted in collaboration with experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sundernagar, who provided detailed knowledge specifically on oyster mushroom cultivation, including selection of raw materials, preparation of substrate, spawning process, environmental conditions, harvesting techniques, and basic marketing strategies. The session was interactive and included practical demonstrations to enhance understanding among participants. A total of 17 interested participants from all the adopted villages actively participated in the training program. The participants expressed strong interest in adopting oyster mushroom cultivation as a viable source of income and self-employment. To promote hands-on learning and immediate implementation, mushroom spawn bags and plastic bags were distributed to all the participants. This support will enable them to initiate oyster mushroom cultivation at the household level. The program was coordinated by Ms. Puneeta Thakur, Senior Lecturer (Electrical Engineering) and Ms. Bandana Dixit, Lecturer (Architecture), who ensured smooth execution and effective coordination with the concerned authorities. Conclusion: The training program proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing awareness and skills related to oyster mushroom cultivation among rural participants. It marked a significant step towards promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities and rural entrepreneurship under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme.
