Plastic Removal Day
"Plastic Removal Day" was successfully observed at Indira Ganesan Educational Institutions today. The event was jointly organized by the institutions' Research and Development Cell and the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan team. The primary goal of this initiative was to minimize the use of plastic items—such as plastic bags, single-use plastic bottles, and cups—and to build a greener, cleaner, and more eco-friendly campus environment.
The event was graced by the institution's key leaders, who actively encouraged and motivated the student community Mr. G. Rajasekaran (Secretary), Dr. G. Balakrishnan (Director) and Dr. M. Anusya (Registrar)
In their addresses, the dignitaries highlighted the severe environmental hazards caused by plastic products and emphasized the urgent need to completely eliminate plastic bags and disposable water bottles from daily use. They noted that such collective initiatives are vital for creating a clean and healthy world for future generations.
Students from all institutions under the Indira Ganesan Group participated in the drive with great enthusiasm. They scoured their respective campuses to collect and clear away discarded plastic bags, cups, and single-use water bottles. A comprehensive cleanliness drive was successfully carried out across the entire campus.
To ensure long-term impact, all participating students took a formal pledge to avoid plastic usage and actively champion environmental conservation. The campus vibrated with energy as students raised the awareness slogan: "Say No to Plastic – Protect the Greenery!" This event has successfully instilled a strong sense of environmental responsibility among the students, giving a significant boost to the college's mission of maintaining a plastic-free campus. The management stated that similar environmental protection activities will continue to be organized regularly in the future.
