Pledge - Manjappai Awareness on 13.02.26
The "Manjappai Awareness Pledge" (Yellow Cloth Bag Awareness) was successfully organized by the Indra Ganesan Group of Institutions on February 13, 2026. The event was jointly coordinated by the institutions' Research and Development (R&D) Department, Unnanth Bharath Abhiyan and the Students' Environment and Water Association, Tiruchirappalli.
The primary goal of this initiative was to emphasize the urgent need to reduce the use of plastic bags, single-use plastic bottles, and cups. It aimed to advocate for the use of traditional cloth bags (Manjappai) as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to protect our environment. The event saw active participation and encouragement from the leadership team of the institutions: Mr. G. Rajasekaran, Secretary, Dr. G. Balakrishnan, Director and Dr. M. Anusiya, Registrar.
In their addresses, the dignitaries highlighted the hazardous effects of plastic pollution. They stressed the importance of completely eliminating plastic bags and water bottles from daily life to ensure a cleaner and healthier world for future generations. Students from all educational institutions under the Indra Ganesan Group, along with officers from the Environment and Water Association, participated with great enthusiasm.
All students took a formal oath to avoid plastic usage, switch to cloth bags, and lead environmental conservation efforts.
