Return to Cloth Bag” – Environmental Awareness Programme Report Date: 24.12.2025 The Unnath Bharath Abhiyan, Indra Ganesan College of Engineering and Research and Development Department of Indira Ganesan Educational Institutions organized an environmental awareness programme titled “Return to Cloth Bag” on 24.12.2025. In connection with this programme, 15,000 cloth bags with a carrying capacity of 5 kilograms were prepared in advance. The programme was presided over by Er. G. Rajasekaran, Secretary, Indira Ganesan Educational Institutions. Dr. G. Balakrishnan, Director, delivered the felicitation address and appreciated the initiative. The welcome address was given by Dr. M. Anusuya, Registrar. The Guest of Honour for the programme was Rotarian AKS Dr. K. Srinivasan, Advisor, Indira Ganesan Educational Institutions and Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Srirangam Branch, Tiruchirappalli. In his special address, he emphasized the importance of environmental protection and strongly urged the public to avoid the use of single-use plastic bags and plastic cups. As part of the programme, 1,000 cloth bags were distributed to the general public at the Tiruchirappalli Chathram Bus Stand on 24.12.2025. Nursing college students and faculty members actively participated in this cloth bag distribution and enthusiastically interacted with the public. Overall, the programme was conducted very successfully, creating widespread awareness among the public about reducing plastic usage and promoting eco-friendly alternatives to protect the environment.
