SajjanPally Village Visit for UBA Survey

On December 13, 2024, KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology conducted a field visit to Sajjanpally village under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) program, organized by the Centre for Innovation and Social Transformation (CIST) in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Student Chapter. Coordinated by faculty members Mr. D. Srinivas and Mr. B. Mohan, and led by Mrs. P. Samyuktha, Head of CIST, the visit involved 30 students from ECE, CSD, and CSM-B departments. The objectives were to conduct a comprehensive survey aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhance students' understanding of rural challenges, identify intervention areas, and foster problem-solving skills. Students surveyed critical areas including clean water, waste management, affordable energy, and gender equality, identifying gaps in waste segregation, sanitation, and women’s education and employment opportunities. Outcomes included documented social challenges, increased student responsibility for social change, and initial action plans for awareness programs and pilot projects with local authorities and NGOs. The visit improved child welfare awareness at Anganwadi and school levels, highlighted the need for proper waste disposal systems, and strengthened community-academia ties, setting the stage for future sustainable development initiatives.
