Surangal Village Visit for UBA Survey
On November 8, 2024, KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology conducted a field visit to Surangal village under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) program, organized by the Centre for Innovation and Social Transformation (CIST) in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Student Chapter. Coordinated by Mr. B. Lingam, Assistant Professor-CIST, and Mr. B. Mohan Venkat Sai, under the leadership of Mrs. P. Samyuktha, Head of CIST, the visit involved 30 students. The objectives were to survey critical developmental areas aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including clean water, waste management, affordable energy, and gender equality, while fostering students’ empathy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students engaged with community members, collecting data on waste segregation and brainstorming solutions for rural challenges. Key outcomes included initial action plans for awareness programs, pilot projects with local authorities and NGOs, and enhanced student responsibility for social change. Conducted at no cost, the visit strengthened community-academia ties and laid the foundation for future sustainable development initiatives in Surangal village, reinforcing KGRCET’s commitment to societal transformation through experiential learning.
