UBA Baseline Household Survey Conducted in Lower Kartholi Village
The UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) Baseline Household Survey was conducted on November 4, 2023, in Lower Kartholi Village by Dogra
Degree College. The survey aimed to collect baseline data and assess the needs and living conditions of the villagers, as well as to
understand their requirements for future development projects. This report provides an overview of the survey's organization,
participants, and key findings. Prior to conducting the survey, a meeting was held on the 3rd of November,2023 with the members of the
UBA committee from Dogra Degree College, including two student representatives, Chiranjeev Singh Gill and Manya Bhardwaj, and
punch of the village Mrs. Sushma Devi. The meeting took place at the house of the village Panch, Mrs. Sushma Devi. The purpose of the
meeting was to discuss the survey's objectives and seek approval from the village Panch. Prior permission was obtained from the village
Sarpanch, Mr. Angrez Singh, for conducting the survey. This ensured that the survey had official authorization and support. A total of 31
students and 6 teachers from Dogra Degree College participated in the survey. The village survey form was given to the Panchayat
member and detailed documentation was explained to the panch. The panch also briefed about the village, the total number of wards,
the total households, and the details of Panchayat members The PI, Coordinator Mr. Balwant Singh also suggested to the panch that the
villagers can also suggest any requirement for their village so that it can be undertaken under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan activity. The
UBA Coordinator of Dogra Degree College briefed the Sarpanch and Panchayat members regarding the village-level survey data filling
Lower Kartholi Village is divided into 8 wards. To ensure comprehensive coverage, groups of 2-3 students were assigned to each ward.
Teachers from Dogra Degree College accompanied the students in each group to provide guidance and support during the survey. The
survey provided an excellent learning opportunity for the students. It allowed them to engage with the community, understand their
issues, and gain practical experience in data collection and social interaction. Students had the chance to interact with the villagers and
learn about their lifestyles, challenges, and aspirations. This helped foster a sense of community involvement. The survey covered various
aspects of village life, including demographics, economic conditions, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
The Key findings include:
Demographics: The village has a diverse population. The average household size is 4-5 members.
Economic Conditions: Many households in the village rely on agriculture as their primary source of income. However, there is a need for
skill development and diversification in livelihood options.
Healthcare: Access to healthcare facilities is limited, and villagers expressed a need for better healthcare services and awareness
programs.
Education: While there are schools in the village, there is a desire for improved infrastructure and educational opportunities for children.
Infrastructure: Villagers highlighted the need for electricity supply, and sanitation facilities along with a garbage collection system.
The UBA Baseline Household Survey conducted by Dogra Degree College students in Lower Kartholi Village on November 4, 2023, was a
valuable exercise in community engagement and data collection. The survey provided students with a practical learning experience while
enabling them to understand the needs and concerns of the villagers. The findings from this survey will be instrumental in planning and
implementing future development projects in the village, aligning with the objectives of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.

Balwant Singh, UBA Coordinator, Dogra Degree College for successfully completing the survey. The survey was successfully completed
with the full cooperation of village Sarpanch Sh. Angrez Singh along with Smt.Sushma Devi, Panch Ward no 2 and Sh.Hari Krishan, panch
ward no.6 This survey was made possible through the collaborative effort of the college, village Panchayat, and the active participation
of the students, teachers, and community members. It is a step towards fostering sustainable rural development in Lower Kartholi
Village.
