Visit to Youngistaan Foundation

On March 6, 2025, the Centre for Innovation and Social Transformation (CIST) at KG Reddy College of Engineering & Technology, in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) KGRCET Student Chapter, organized a visit to Youngistaan Foundation in Hyderabad under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan framework. Led by Mrs. P. Samyuktha and coordinated by Mrs. T. Sandhya, 20 students engaged with the NGO to explore challenges in food wastage and redistribution. The interaction provided insights into inefficiencies in food redistribution networks, including logistical difficulties, storage limitations, and communication gaps, which prevent surplus food from reaching those in need. Youngistaan Foundation shared their efforts in leveraging volunteer networks, partnerships, and technology-driven solutions like tracking systems to enhance food redistribution and reduce waste. Students identified key pain points and explored innovative solutions, such as real-time tracking apps and community-driven networks. The visit, with no reported expenses, deepened students’ understanding of food insecurity and inspired them to develop practical, technology-driven interventions. This initiative reinforced CIST’s commitment to societal development through collaborative, sustainable solutions.
