The one-day extension workshop conducted under the initiative “Social Empowerment and Sustainability of Rural Population in the Western Himalayan Region” was held on 17th January 2025 at Kundla Village, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, with the aim of addressing farmers’ challenges and providing practical, location-specific solutions through direct interaction with agricultural experts. The workshop focused on “Farmers’ Problems and Their Solutions”, with particular emphasis on protected cultivation and greenhouse farming techniques. Organized at Gram Panchayat Shamti, the program featured field visits, expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions that offered hands-on guidance on insect pest management, disease control, fertilizer application, and sustainable crop management practices. The active involvement of local leaders and over twenty farmers ensured meaningful participation and knowledge exchange. As a result, farmers gained improved understanding of pest, disease, and nutrient management under protected cultivation systems and developed greater confidence in adopting scientific and natural farming methods to enhance productivity. The strengthened link between farmers and agricultural experts effectively addressed region-specific agricultural issues, and participants expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the workshop along with a strong interest in future training and capacity-building initiatives.
