World Breastfeeding Day Awareness Week

The Centre for Community Engagement and Service Learning under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA), Loreto College (Autonomous), organized an awareness programme in observance of World Breastfeeding Week on August 6, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM at Sankharipota FP School. Centered around the theme "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," the event aimed to educate families, communities, and healthcare networks on supporting mothers for healthier children and a sustainable future. The session featured Dr. Satabdi Mitra (MBBS, DPM, MD, DNB, MNAMS), an expert in Community Medicine and Public Health, as the keynote resource person. ​The programme saw an enthusiastic turnout of 52 women and adolescent girls, alongside local ASHA and Anganwadi representatives. Dr. Mitra delivered an informative session highlighting the critical importance of breastfeeding, while also addressing broader women's health concerns including proper nutrition, menstruation issues, and menopause. To cap off the event and support the physical well-being of the participants, sanitary napkins and nutritional health drinks were distributed to everyone in attendance.
