Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara conducted a waste management program in Kadambode Ward 12, Mattathur Panchayat, to address the lack of plastic waste management in public spaces. Following a survey that highlighted this issue, students and faculty organized a plastic waste collection drive involving 82 students and 6 teachers on October 4, 2024. The collected waste was transformed into a fish-shaped sculpture by 30 students and 2 teachers on October 5, serving as a public installation for waste disposal. A training session led by Media Studies students promoted sustainable waste management practices, raising awareness among residents. The sculpture was inaugurated at Kadambode Junction on October 7, 2024, by Rev. Fr. Anto Vattoly, with active community participation. This initiative provided a practical solution for plastic waste management and set a model for future projects.
