Empowering Youth Through "MERA PEHLA VOTE- DESH KE LIYE” Campaign

Raghu Engineering College organised “MERA PEHLA VOTE-DESH KE LIYE” in association with UBA and NSS units of REI.    In a democracy, voting is not just a right but a responsibility. It is the cornerstone of a vibrant and inclusive society where every voice matters. Recognizing the importance of youth participation in the electoral process, the NSS Units of Raghu Engineering College (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in association with AICTE & ECI, organized a series of engaging activities under the banner of "MERA PEHLA VOTE- DESH KE LIYE”. From March 2nd to March 6th, 2024, the college campus buzzed with enthusiasm as students came together to pledge, learn, and actively contribute to the democratic fabric of the nation.

Voters Pledge:The campaign kicked off with a solemn Voters Pledge ceremony where students, faculty, and staff gathered to affirm their commitment to exercising their right to vote responsibly. The pledge served as a reminder of the importance of civic duty and the role each individual plays in shaping the destiny of the nation.Rally for Voter Awareness:March 4thsaw the campus come alive with a vibrant rally aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of voting. NSS volunteers led the charge, carrying banners, placards, and raising slogans to encourage maximum voter participation. The rally traversed through the college campus and nearby areas, capturing the attention of all with its message of empowerment through voting. 

Seminar on Electoral Literacy :The campaign concluded on March 6th with a seminar on electoral literacy. Experts shared insights on voter registration, voting procedures, electoral reforms, and the pivotal role of youth in shaping the future of democracy. The seminar empowered students with knowledge and understanding, equipping them to make informed decisions as responsible citizens

Drawing ,Quiz and Painting and Slogan ContestCompetition:On March  5th, creativity took center stage with a drawing quiz and a painting competition. These events provided students with a platform to express their thoughts on democracy, electoral responsibilities, and the power of voting through art. From thought-provoking sketches to colorful canvases, each artwork reflected the passion and commitment of the youth towards building a better future for the nation

On the same day , witnessed an explosion of creativity as students participated in a slogan contest. Armed with wit and wisdom, participants crafted catchy and impactful slogans to promote voter awareness. These slogans served as powerful reminders of the importance of every vote and the collective strength of a democratic society

Real-Life Voting Simulation:As a culmination of the campaign, a real-life voting simulation was conducted. Students were given the opportunity to cast their votes using mock ballot papers and electronic voting machines (EVMs). This hands-on experience not only demystified the voting process but also instilled confidence in the youth to actively participate in the democratic process.

The "MERA PEHLA VOTE- DESH KE LIYE” campaign, led by the NSS Units of Raghu Engineering College in collaboration with AICTE & ECI, served as a beacon of hope and empowerment for the youth. Through a series of engaging activities, students were not only educated about their electoral rights and responsibilities but also inspired to become proactive agents of change in the nation. As they cast their "pehla vote" (first vote), they embarked on a journey towards a brighter and more inclusive future for India.
