Phenyl Making

Problem Identification: The village of Vellakaradu (VattakattuPudhur) faces significant challenges due to a lack of job opportunities, leaving many local people struggling with financial instability and sustenance issues. Despite these hardships, there is a strong enthusiasm among the villagers to learn new skills and pursue entrepreneurship.

Implementation: In 2018, a novel initiative was launched by the Department of Chemistry at St. Joseph's College for Women to provide phenyl-making training to the deserving local population. This effort goes beyond just imparting technical skills; the college also extends marketing support, aiding in sales and promotional campaigns. The proceeds from these activities are carefully channeled back to the community members, helping to improve their financial situation and overall well-being.

Output:

Around 40 women from Vattakattupudhur village were benefitted and they got trained about the preparation and usage of phenyl.
