R.M.K. Engineering College (Tamil Nadu): Solid Waste Management, Micro Computing Centre & other Disciplinary Works

R.M.K. Engineering College (Tamil Nadu) has adopted Kilmudalambedu, Puduvoyal,  Chinnakavanam, Melmudalambedu, and Madharpakkam villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program. The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan-RMK team is highly active to get solutions to the problems of adopted villages. The students and faculty of RMK Engineering College have worked together to attain the goals of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and conducted several activities under various disciplines mentioned as under -

Prime Minister’s Vidyanjali Yojana (Kilmudalambedu): Communicative English and computing skills for the teachers of Government Primary school, Kilmudalambedu during July 2018.

Solid waste management: Awareness programs on “Hazards of open Dumping of solid waste” and “Two Garbage bin system” in all the villages during August 2018 for more than 700 village public.

Installation of Micro composting center for municipal solid waste to bio manure in Puduvoyal on 23.2.2019 and Chinnakavanam on 24.2.2019 - 100 households will benefit.

Swachh Bharath Abhiyan initiatives, personal hygiene, open defecation hazards, health and hygiene camps at Kilmudalmbedu, Melmudalambedu and Puduvoyal - 1.7.2019 to 6.7.2019.

Herbal park and tree plantation in Puduvoyal and Melmudalambedu 5.7.2019.

Computer literacy program on all on-line facilities for educated rural people on 14.8.2019

Life Skill Development Program for the students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chinnakavanam, Ponneri during August 2018 and August 2019.

Technology for Agriculture: Agro APP (A farmers’ handbook) and IoT based smart farming were developed and demonstrated to the farmers on 25.9.2019.

Simple repairs of home appliances for self-help groups on 22.10.2019 at Chinnakavanam village.

Demonstration on Cost-effective water purification - Solar disinfection, sand filtration techniques etc. at Chinnakavanam village on 28.10.2019 for 200 ladies from self-help groups.

Plastic Waste Management: Awareness on “Plastic waste”, “distribution of cloth bags” and “waste plastic to recyclers” in Puduvoyal and Chinnakavanam villages on 6.11.2019 & 11.12.2019.
