Crop Insurance Awareness Activity Report at Village Sandhu (Theog)
The Crop Insurance Awareness Activity was conducted on 2nd December 2025 at Sandhu Village, Theog Block, Himachal Pradesh, with the objective of creating awareness among farmers about crop insurance schemes, particularly the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), along with other central and state government initiatives related to agriculture, horticulture, and rural development. The programme aimed to educate farmers on the benefits, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the importance of risk management practices to safeguard crops against natural calamities. The awareness session was conducted through interactive discussions, group interactions, and practical explanations delivered in simple and locally understandable language to ensure effective comprehension. Farmers were sensitized to the role of crop insurance in mitigating risks arising from unpredictable weather conditions, pest infestations, and natural disasters, and were provided detailed information on enrollment processes, premium rates, claim settlement mechanisms, and the role of banks and insurance agencies. Additionally, various government schemes related to soil health, irrigation, financial assistance, and agricultural development were discussed. Active participation by farmers, who shared their experiences and raised queries, made the session engaging and impactful. As a result, farmers gained enhanced awareness of crop insurance and government welfare schemes, developed greater confidence to enroll in insurance programmes, strengthened their understanding of available benefits, and were encouraged to adopt informed and sustainable decision-making practices in agriculture.
