Pink October Community Awareness Session – Solan
As part of the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Shoolini University organized a community awareness session for women at Kalyan Bhawan, Solan, with the support and encouragement of IAS Ajay, whose initiative played a key role in facilitating this outreach programme focused on women’s health and preventive care. The session was led by Poonam Nanda Ma’am, who sensitized participants about breast cancer, its common symptoms, risk factors, and the vital importance of early detection and regular screening in improving survival outcomes. Emphasis was placed on dispelling myths, reducing fear, and encouraging women to prioritize their health. Participants were also informed about an upcoming breast cancer screening camp, with clear explanations provided regarding the screening process to ensure reassurance about safety, accessibility, and confidentiality. The session fostered an open and supportive environment that encouraged women to share concerns and seek clarifications related to breast health, while two Shoolini University volunteers assisted with coordination and information dissemination. The initiative was well received by the participants, who expressed appreciation for the community-level awareness effort. Overall, the programme reflected Shoolini University’s strong commitment to community engagement, women empowerment, and preventive healthcare, reinforcing the message that early detection can save lives.
